Misty Virmani, MD, FAAP
Misty D. Virmani, MD, FAAP is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Neonatology in Little Rock, Arkansas at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, with a clinical and academic focus in breastfeeding medicine. She completed her medical degree (2003) and pediatric residency (2006) at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health in Dallas, followed by a neonatology fellowship at UAMS, where she joined the faculty in 2016.
Dr. Virmani has led major institutional initiatives to strengthen breastfeeding support and education, including the development of statewide online training resources for nurses and physicians and supporting Baby Friendly facilities program development in Arkansas. She founded the UAMS Milk Bank in 2023 and currently serves as its Executive Director and Medical Director, while also maintaining an active clinical role within the Division of Neonatology. Her work centers on improving infant nutrition, advancing human milk access, and supporting evidence-based breastfeeding practices across the region.
