Nigel Rollins

Nigel Rollins is Professor of Maternal and Child Health at Queen’s University Belfast, with extensive experience in paediatrics, child nutrition, and global health research. He trained in Belfast, completed doctoral research in Tanzania, and spent much of his career in South Africa leading academic and clinical programs to improve maternal and child health.
From 2008 to 2024, Nigel worked at the World Health Organization, leading international research and guideline development on infant feeding, child nutrition, and early childhood development. He has collaborated with national health authorities in over 20 countries and authored key WHO guidelines on HIV and infant feeding, severe malnutrition, and childhood obesity prevention.
Nigel holds medical degrees from Queen’s University Belfast and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK. He is committed to translating research into practice to improve health outcomes for children worldwide.
